Chaa Creek Resort
Chaa Creek Resort
What started as a small farm project on 140-acres back in 1977 turned into a 365-acre nature reserve complete with a luxury eco-resort. Cha Creek officially opened in 1981, but electricity didn’t appear in the small, rustic cottages until 1987 and hot water in 1988. As Chaa Creek continued to grow and gain in popularity, they expanded to 21 cottages in 1997 and a complete renovation in 2000, including upgrades in all the rooms and a new spa. Today you’ll find a number of fine amenities blended naturally with the surrounding jungle and a total of 23 cottages as well as upgraded one, two, and three bedroom suites and villas. These suites and villas offer special touches and more space with private outdoor areas, jacuzzi tubs, and/or varying rainforest and Macal River views.
Chaa Creek is famously known for its abundance of available activities, both on-site and off-property. The 365-acre nature reserve hosts a number of trails, which are perfect for day and night hikes, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, birding, and horseback riding (horse stables on the property). Your stay at Chaa Creek includes a number of complimentary guided tours: Natural History Centre, Butterfly Farm, Ruta Maya self-guided hiking trails, canoeing, early-morning guided bird watching, and a Maya Medicine Plant Trail. When you’re not busy exploring the reserve or off-site on a tour, make sure to enjoy the infinity pool or one of many treatments at the full-service spa. For dining, Cha Creek uses the freshest, organic produce from their gardens as well as home-baked breads and pastries from their in-house bakery. Another fabulous reason we love Chaa Creek (as if we need more) is that 10% of all accommodation revenues go to social and environmental programs.
