Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge
Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge
At Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge there are just 20 rooms divided between four different categories – Garden Rooms, Spanish Casitas, Mountain View Suites, and a River House. Every room comes with A/C, Wi-Fi, ceiling fans, coffee maker, mini fridge and safe. The four Garden Rooms offer jungle views, a small seating area, and can be equipped with either a king bed, two twin beds, or two bunk beds to accommodate up to four people. The ten Spanish Casitas are nestled among fragrant gardens offering guests seclusion and privacy. Each casita comes with a king bed, large shower, open-air bath tub, indoor sitting area, espresso machine, and private deck with hammock. The five Mountain View Suites are lavish rooms strategically built around a cliff for splendid views of the Mayan Mountain Canopy. The master bedroom features a king bed and glass sliding doors that open to a private porch complete with plunge pool. The plush Penthouse Mountain Suite offers a veranda with spacious jacuzzi (instead of a plunge pool) and offers the best views of the Mayan Mountains. The two-bedroom River House overlooks the Sibun River and has a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, and deck along with jacuzzi tub in the Master bedroom. Each bedroom in the River House comes with a queen bed and can be rented separately but often rented together by families or two couples.
Spend at least three nights (if not more) at Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge to enjoy some of the best features and activities both on and off the property. Guests are encouraged to climb the Mountain Top Gazebo ($10), a hike next door to the lodge that ascends 350 ft. With the gazebo’s prime location next to both a citrus farm and a creek that separates the farm and rainforest, there are a number of birds and animals attracted to the area. The Gazebo thus allows guests a front row seat for birdwatching or simply enjoying the breathtaking views of the Mayan Mountains. Of course you’ll work up a sweat climbing up this tower, so cool off in the pool and soothe any sore muscles with an in room massage. For another half-day activity, kayaks and paddleboards are available for guests to take out on the Sibun River. Other guided activities include: waterfall cave expedition, Belize Zoo, zip-lining, cave tubing, birdwatching, The Black Hole drop/rappel, and various Mayan ruin sites. For dining, all the meals are served on the third floor of the main palapa house while the second floor hosts a bar and lounge area. The palapa house restaurant incorporates a deliciously fresh mix of American and Belizean cuisine with an a la carte menu using locally sourced ingredients and produce.
