Day 1
Fly into Belize Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE). Outside the airport you’ll find your private driver that will be holding a sign with our logo and your name on it. They will then assist with your luggage and drive you from Belize City to San Ignacio. Feel free to stop at anytime during your private ground transfer for photo opportunities, restrooms, lunch, or to simply stretch your legs. Arriving anytime around midday will allow you the unique advantage of stopping at the Belize Zoo to hand feed a tapir or high five a jaguar, both great photo opportunities. Here, you’ll also see all five cat species native to Belize along with monkeys, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Make your way to the Cayo District and check into the luxurious Ka’ana Resort, located just outside of San Ignacio. Jump right into Mayan culture this evening as you make your own dinner during a cooking class that utilizes traditional Mayan cooking recipes and techniques.
-
Day 2
Enjoy a delicious, fresh breakfast within the privacy of your room or terrace. Make sure to fuel up with plenty of food for a day of exploring the Mayan Underworld! Choose between wading and climbing through chambers in the popular Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave or canoeing through Barton Creek Cave, both sacrificial caves where many artifacts and skeletal remains are seen. Return to Ka’ana in the early-to-mid afternoon to cool off in the pool or indulge in an organic spa treatment. Enjoy complimentary snacks during happy hour at the Wallace Bar and head into town this evening to try one of many local restaurants.
-
Day 3
Explore the Mayan world above ground! Nearby sites include Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, which can be done together in one day. For a full day adventure outside of San Ignacio, you can visit the Mayan capital of Tikal in Guatemala or the largest Mayan site in Belize, Caracol. If there is time after visiting Caracol, take a swim in Big Rock Falls before your return to Ka’ana. Celebrate your time at Ka’ana with a bottle of wine from their 1,000 bottle wine cellar,
-
Day 4
An hour domestic flight will take you from San Ignacio to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Las Terrazas will be waiting for you just outside the small San Pedro Airport, and they’ll take you 15-minutes north to their resort. After a brief overview of the property while sipping on a refreshing drink, check into your suite and head down to the 70’ infinity edge pool for a swim.
-
Day 5
At least one day (if not every day!) should be dedicated to snorkeling or diving around the gorgeous Mesoamerican Reef. There are countless dive sites including The Great Blue Hole (1000-foot circular coral reef that drops 400 feet into a cavern), Half Moon Caye (wall dive), Lighthouse Atoll, and The Elbow (wall dive off Turneffe Atoll). Popular snorkeling sites allow you to see just as much marine life as some of the dives and include the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, and Mexico Rocks. After a day in the salty Caribbean Sea, enjoy a soothing wrap or deep tissue massage at Serenity Spa. Tonight, dine at O Restaurant for some of the best cuisine on the island.
-
Day 6
Spend another morning snorkeling and diving the Mesoamerican Reef. Return to Las Terrazas to freshen up and then ride a bike/golf cart into town and hop from beach bar to beach bar. Choose one of many restaurants in San Pedro for dinner before riding back to the hotel.
-
Day 7
Enjoy your last full day in Belize kayaking or paddle boarding out to nearby snorkel sites. Looking to do a little less work on your last day? If so, rent a waverunner, enjoy a sunset sail, or hop on a helicopter ride for aerial views of the Great Blue Hole or Mayan sites.
