Fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) where one of our local airport representatives will meet you before immigration holding a sign with your name on it. They will guide you through an expedited immigration process and to baggage claim. Outside the airport you’ll find your private transfer that will be waiting to help you with your luggage. You’ll head an hour up into the misty mountains and check into your luxurious stay at Peace Lodge. Natural elements blend seamlessly with rustic architecture throughout the property with large stone fireplaces and waterfall stone showers in every room, for example. This evening, relax with a glass of wine in the warm jacuzzi on your balcony while overlooking the cloud forest ridge.
Today you’ll visit two of the Central Valley’s main highlights, the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. You’ll travel just 20 minutes from Peace Lodge to see the lagoon inside the active Poas Volcano crater. After your visit to Poas Volcano, return to Peace Lodge to visit the different wildlife exhibits where rescued animals such as cats, birds, and monkeys reside. Continue your journey within the Peace Lodge property to their waterfall garden trail where you’ll hike alongside various cascading waterfalls for wonderful photo opportunities.
A two hour private transfer through the mountains will take you to the iconic Arenal Volcano. Check into Arenal Volcano’s most glamorous hotel, The Springs Resort and Spa, and head straight to their on site thermal hot springs. You can enjoy unlimited use of The Springs Resort’s hot springs as a guest of the hotel.
Directly on The Springs Resort property is an outdoor adventure center called Club Rio. Spend a half day or full day enjoying all there is to do at Club Rio – river tubing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and guided nature hikes. For those travelers that are missing their electronic games from home, The Springs also has a Game Lounge featuring various video game consoles as well as table tennis, foosball, and board games. Spa junkies will love the massive, 14,000 sq. ft. head-to-toe spa. Start and conclude your spa treatment with a soak in the hot springs.
Enjoy a day of exploration and adventure outside of The Springs Resort. Start the day with a guided nature walk along hanging suspension bridges, allowing for a bird’s eye view of the rainforest canopy. Pick up the pace in the afternoon as you fly above and through the treetops on a canopy zip-line. Return to The Springs for a final evening of therapeutic relaxation in the mineral hot springs.
Enjoy aerial views of winding rivers through thick rainforest as you fly from Arenal down to Quepos along the Central Pacific. A 15 minute drive from Quepos will bring you to the sleek Los Altos Resort. Check into your plush luxury suites and admire the Pacific Ocean view from the main balcony. Dine at Karola’s open-air restaurant or have a private chef prepare and serve dinner within your suite.
No stay in Manuel Antonio is complete without a visit to Manuel Antonio National Park. A guided walk in the early morning offers the best wildlife viewing opportunities when the animals are more active in cooler daybreak temperatures. After the guided nature walk, unpack your beach bag and enjoy pristine white sand and vibrant blue waters inside the national park.
Spend your last full day in Costa Rica soaking up every ray of sunshine from the pool or on the beach. When you need a break from the sun, head inside for a deep tissue massage or chocolate mint body scrub. Explore one of the many local restaurants in Manuel Antonio for your last dinner, such as the delicious Cafe Milagro.
